Meet our Doctors

Dr. Rebecca is a 2008 graduate of Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has worked as a small animal veterinarian in both emergency and general practice. She grew up in the small town of Clayton, North Carolina but moved to Michigan when her husband started veterinary school at Michigan State University. 

They have three children and a German Shorthair Pointer, Otto.  Dr. Smyka enjoys reading, gardening, and being outdoors.

Dr. McCormick grew up in Mount Pleasant, MI and then went to Michigan State University for undergrad, where she got her bachelors in zoology.  She took a gap year to work in research before going to vet school.  She attended Arizona at Midwestern University.  

She loved Arizona but she and her husband moved back to Michigan to be closer to family and experience all the seasons.  She loves hiking, camping, and spending time with her two huskies, Mika and Loki!

In 2021, Dr. Simon graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing her education, she joined a busy small animal and exotics practice in the Grand Rapids area, where she honed her skills in veterinary care, surgery, and diagnostics. After a few rewarding years in Grand Rapids, Dr. Simon decided it was time to move back to her hometown area to be closer to family while raising her young children.

Dr. Simon is passionate about building meaningful relationships with both her clients and their pets. She believes that getting to know her patients and their families on a personal level enhances the care she provides, ensuring that treatments align with each pet’s unique needs and that pet owners feel supported every step of the way. Her professional interests include surgery, dentistry, and preventative care, and she is dedicated to offering compassionate, comprehensive care to her patients. 

Outside of her veterinary work, Dr. Simon enjoys spending time with her husband and three children in the Dewitt area, where they share their home with two dogs, two cats, and chickens. In her free time, she loves reading, crafting, and exploring the great outdoors with her family.
